New Greyhound Training Program
Are you planning to adopt a greyhound or have you just brought one home? Are you a first-time dog guardian or just need some more support with your new rescue?
I'm here to help you and your hound have a greyt start and make the transition process as smooth as possible - with a training package designed to set you both up for success!
What's included in the package?

Your 1 Online Consultation is ideal for your greyhound's first or second week at home. Your new dog needs time to adjust to the huge change to their life and space to decompress. By doing the first consultation online, we can keep their world small and not change their environment by adding a new person.
We can work on setting your home up to prevent any issues like sleep startle, resource guarding and counter surfing. This is also the time for you to ask questions so you can understand your new dog and your hound's learning can begin!
You'll also get homework to work on until the next session!
Your 3 Private Lessons are the next step, after your dog decompresses and starts to adjust to the new environment. This can take up 1-4 weeks - or more depending on the dog!
After the decompression period, new behaviours are likely to emerge as your hound has recovered from the initial stress of the environmental change and starts trying new behaviours to see what 'works' best for them.

Some behaviours you may see are needs/demand barking, on leash reactivity to to other dogs, resource guarding ect.
This is the best time for in-home training and working on basic life skills like recall, loose leash walking and relaxing on a mat in public spaces. We will also put in place a plan to work through any emerging undesirable behaviours, prevent others from arising and continue to keep building your greyhound's confidence!

Greyhound School is a great way for your dog to continue their education, maintain their skills and continue to build a relationship with you!
These classes teach your hound how to socialise appropriately with other dogs and also how to relax and focus on you in stimulating environments! You'll also get to meet fellow greyhound guardians and get to know the thriving hound community!

*Does not include travel fees for clients more than 40 minutes away from Peakhurst
